We spent five days in Cairns and hardly sat still! The Great Barrier Reef cruise was absolutely worth it—saw a sea turtle and countless colorful fish. The esplanade was a great spot for morning jogs, though it did get busier in the evenings. Can't wait to return and explore more islands.

I loved how easy it was to organize day trips from Cairns. We booked a Daintree Rainforest tour and our guide was super knowledgeable about the plants and wildlife. Food in the city is nice, but restaurants can get crowded on weekends. The free lagoon was a lifesaver for hot afternoons.

Kuranda Scenic Railway had gorgeous views and the Skyrail was fun, though a bit pricey. We got some beautiful art at the night market. I wish there were more budget food options near the waterfront, but overall, Cairns has a great vibe for travelers.

Travelled alone and found plenty to do. The Botanic Gardens are a nice retreat if you want something quieter. Reef tours can get crowded, so try to book with smaller boats. Overall, I met lots of other solo travelers which made it a social place.

Snorkeling the reef was a dream come true! Fitzroy Island was so clear and peaceful, perfect for a picnic. The markets were full of local artists, and my kids enjoyed the lagoon playground a lot. My only regret is not staying longer.

Rainy when we arrived but still enjoyed exploring the city. The night markets were fun for souvenirs and snacks, and the tropical fruit shakes are amazing. Be aware that some tours are cancelled if the weather turns, so it's good to have a backup plan.

Went for our honeymoon and absolutely loved it! We took a helicopter ride over the reef which was unforgettable. The humidity took some getting used to, but the seafood and sunsets made up for it. Definitely romantic and relaxing.

Enjoyed a family trip—lots to do for kids and adults. Our favorite was the crocodile cruise near Daintree. Restaurants have great outdoor seating, and everyone was very friendly. Would recommend for families, but book tours early in peak season.

Wildlife lovers will be happy here. We saw cassowaries in the forest, and the aquarium was surprisingly good. Nights are lively but not rowdy, which suited us perfectly. Some areas at night can feel empty, but we always felt safe.

Couldn't get enough of the reef! Did a beginner's dive and saw incredible coral and even a little shark. Taking the Skyrail into the rainforest was a highlight. Make sure to bring mosquito spray if you’re hiking.

An adventure paradise. Barron River rafting was intense and super fun, and the operators were professional. I appreciated all the free public facilities, like the big lagoon pool. Nights are a bit quieter during the week but we found some great live music.
