We came for the maritime museum but wound up exploring so much more. Loved the Victorian houses and the walk along the river was so relaxing. Wish we had more sun, but the moody weather grew on us. The brewery scene was a fun surprise!

Astoria was unexpectedly charming, especially downtown with all the quirky shops. The Astoria Column climb was a highlight. The food options were solid, but things closed up pretty early compared to bigger cities. Friendly folks everywhere though!

The Lewis and Clark Park was impressive, and I liked the authentic local vibe. Public transport is pretty basic, so definitely best with your own car if you want to get out to the parks and beaches. Would come back for the festivals.

Quiet and artsy little city with lots of personality. Museum passes were a good deal. Some restaurants seemed to have limited hours in the winter, but there was always something open. Bring a raincoat—you’ll need it!

The Marine Museum was fascinating and really immersive. Wish the trolley was running that late in the season. We got lucky with some clear days and great views from the Column—don’t miss the paper airplanes you can throw from the top!

So much history in such a small town! I really liked the architecture and the live music in a riverside pub. Places got a bit crowded on the weekend, but it was never overwhelming. Definitely check the event calendars before you go.
