Johannesburg surprised me with its creative vibe—loved wandering around the Maboneng Precinct. The street art and gallery scene are top notch! Some areas felt a bit chaotic but the food and nightlife definitely made up for that.

I grew up in Durban and finally made it to Joburg for a week. The Apartheid Museum was incredibly moving and Soweto had such great energy and music. We felt safe the whole trip as long as we stuck to main areas and used Uber.

My family had an amazing time visiting the Cradle of Humankind and then relaxing at the Botanical Gardens. Our kids loved the zoo and we easily hopped around with the Gautrain. Would recommend skipping driving yourself—traffic is wild!
